I was recently listening to some messages from a friend in the US. In the middle of the conversation she said a phrase that jumped out at me, about “the marrying of Church and State”. As she said this it immediately felt as though it opened up as a zip file in my spirit, and I started to understand more deeply the Keys of David as being the exercise of legislating from heaven to earth.
The Lord then showed me that the church had believed the lie about the “separation of church and state” and consequently had abdicated its role as a governing body. The church has always had the responsibility, as the Ecclesia, to legislate. The Ecclesia has always had responsibility to govern in the earth.
The Lord immediately took me to Isaiah 9:6-7 and said, “here are the keys of David”.
Isa 9:6 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isa 9:7 “Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.”
The keys of David are about government (Ecclesia). The weight is on His shoulders, but we are to align with His government, and partner with the increase of His government on earth.
David was a king who legislated into the nation but he was also a priest who ministered to the Lord and inquired of Him before legislating. His heart, that was after God’s heart, enabled him to administrate the legislation of Heaven into the nation.
David represented a new kingdom, the Ecclesia. David was Divinely elected to rule – not through popular vote on the platforms of man, swayed by prevailing culture, but established outside of time and elected by God for the purposes of governing. Now this is Ecclesia (in the new covenant) who are IN HIM and called to manifest Him as we grow up into the mature sons.
Rev 3:7 “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: ‘The words of the holy one, the true one, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, who shuts and no one opens.”
When we legislate as the Ecclesia with the Keys of David what we open cannot be shut and what we shut cannot be opened.
We are to join / marry (not separate) Church and State. We are Kings and Priests and as a body we have abdicated for too long our role as legislators and consequently we are living under ungodly legislation.
We have a role to legislate from heaven and land it on earth. Nothing should be permitted we have not permitted and nothing should be denied we have not denied.
The era of any passivity in church has to come to an end. It’s time to assume our rightful position!
